Our next stop on our European vacation was Dubrovnik, Croatia. I definitely loved Dubrovnik way more than Hvar. There was just something about it that felt magical. The landscape was beautiful, the people were friendly, and the water couldn't have been better. If you saw my most recent style post here then you know that we stayed at the beautiful Grand Villa Argentina Dubrovnik. It had spectacular views, an amazing pool area on the cliff side and was only a ten minute walk to the Old Town entrance. We took a ferry from Hvar to Dubrovnik because we heard that was the best way to get there from where we were and we totally agreed. We left around 9 and arrived at about noon. By the time we got to the hotel and checked in it was about 1:00pm so we decided to have lunch at the hotel and then head down to the pool to relax after moving around for the majority of the morning. It was the perfect way to finish off our day.

The next day we decided to head into the Old Town to explore and shop a bit before it got too hot. The town is absolutely beautiful but beware it does get very crowded. It really doesn't matter what time of day it is. By 9am most of the tours are out crowding the streets and at dinner time it is even worse, but I find if you are patient, ignore the people around you and take in the amazing architecture it's not so bad. Some places I would definitely recommend stopping in at are Back to Nature, an all natural skincare company (the story and products of this store are amazing! Let me know if you'd like a post about it) Clara Stones (handmade jewelry), and some of the arts stores on the small side streets, they are a must see. For lunch we stopped at Oyster and Sushi Bar Bota, if you like sushi you'll love this place and a bonus, it has great AC!

Once the crowds really picked up, we had eaten lunch and seen all the stores we were interested in we decided to spend the rest of the day down by the pool. The pool was all the way down at the bottom of the cliff looking right out to the Adriatic Sea. You could just right off the edge of the patio space around the pool into the sea. The service was amazing as well. Once you walked down the attendants would get you towels and help you find chairs together and if there weren't any they would take some out and make room for you. They were amazing. There's nothing worse than just wanting to relax but you can't find a seat. They went out of their way to help you in any way. The view was spectacular as well. I could have spent the whole vacation down there. The water seemed a bit colder than Hvar, but it was also much deeper where we were swimming.

That night we got dressed up and went to dinner in town. This is a place that you need to make reservations for ahead of time. You can call earlier in the day at some, but don't take the risk of just walking in because by 7 most places are packed. The first night we went to Restaurant Horizont which is just outside the old town with a great view looking over it. The food was good and the staff was honest and friendly. The next night we had a really special experience of going to 360 Dubrovnik which has a Michelin Star. I had never been to a restaurant with a Michelin star before and it was an amazing fine dining experience. I will say I was very brave and had to really expand my horizons with this menu. For me, I don't eat a lot of seafood or red meat. My diet is mostly chicken which was not on the menu so I was definitely out of my comfort zone, not to mention the menu was also a bit obscure at first glance. Not just for me but for everyone. When the food came out though, it was incredible. Looking back it was probably the best meal we had eaten the entire trip. The staff was friendly and attentive. It was truly the perfect night.
